In this module, you will learn about public finance management that supports achievement of  SDG targets. In 2022, UNDP worked with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to develop a comprehensive self-directed e-learning course, which is linked to this module.

It begins with a brief introduction to UNDP’s engagement in this work, then links you to the UNITAR course. Upon completion of the UNITAR course, you will be redirected to this module for UNDP-specific examples of budgeting for the SDGs.

In this module, you will learn about the crucial role of taxation in advancing the SDGs.
It covers the importance of taxes in governance, key terms and concepts, and the challenges and possible reforms that can support more effective and impactful taxation. You will also learn about UNDP's role in strengthening tax systems and UNDP's Tax for SDGs Initiative.

In this module, you will learn about how debt instruments are used in financing the SDGs, with a focus on sovereign (government-issued) bonds. You will also learn about UNDP's engagement with debt to finance the SDGs.
