Overview of Session:
With the rise of FinTech, one of the major tools that has entered everyday usage is that of Blockchain, which has become synonymous with the Cryptocurrency Bitcoin.
It’s growing use in many areas beyond the financial sector, such as Smart Contracts, and Supply Chain, has inspired UAE to become the first Blockchain enabled government. By 2020 UAE wants to have all government services supported by Blockchain, including all payment provision such as utilities.
With this rapid rise there are many misunderstandings as to what it is, and how it can be used. Our expert Peter John Warrack will provide an interactive discussion and introduce some of the important elements of Blockchain technology. His background in Blockchain, Regulatory & Investigation of Financial Crime makes him ideally qualified to offer an insight to the legal profession on this topic.

Peter John Warrack CAMS, CBP, CFE
Peter has thirty years demonstrated experience in the investigation, prevention and management of serious crime, particularly economic crime (incl. securities, the capital markets), fraud, cyber and high tech crime, anti-terrorism, anti-money laundering high risk customers, PEPs and economic sanctions.
With International experience spanning the military, law enforcement and financial sectors including fifteen years in the North American international banking and regulatory environment. He currently works for Bank of Montreal Financial Group (BMO FG), as Director AML/TF, Fintech Advisory and Compliance Officer Enterprise AML.
He is a member ACAMS Exam Writing Task Force 2016-2017 and ACAMS Certified Exam Preparation Instructor. Winner of ACAMS Professional of the Year Award, 2011, 2017. Winner of ACAMS Article of the Year, 2017 for ACAMS Today article “When Two Worlds Collide” (https://www.acamstoday.org/when-two-worlds-collide/). He is also a Certified Bitcoin Professional, (CBP), having presented on the topic at some major conferences around the world.
