With the introduction of VAT in the UAE since 1 January 2018, the UAE joins a long list of countries that have since introduced this tax.
This course will look at the broad outline of the GCC/UAE VAT, as compared to other VAT systems in the world. It will seek to explain the structure and legal framework, and in particular will consider what might be considered 'good' VAT compliance, exemptions under the VAT regime and what pitfalls to be mindful of.

Dilpreet joined Dentons from the independent Bar in London. She is an English-qualified barrister with a range of litigation experience including general commercial litigation, financial services, tax and public law. She has substantial Court experience and has appeared in a range of financial fraud litigation, as well as undertaking advising on contract obligations in international law and conflict of laws, trusts and estates, pharmaceutical negligence, international arbitration and alternative forums for dispute and competition law. She previously trained and practiced at Deloitte LLP (London) in its Indirect Tax team, and is currently due to complete a Masters in Taxation from the University of Oxford.
