The Academy of Law in collaboration with the DIFC Wills and Probate Registry will be running a training programme on the “WPR Rules” and “Will Drafting for the WPR”. Successful completion of the course assessment will also entitle the practitioner to be included on the DIFC WPR’s list of approved Will Draftsmen, provided that they also comply with all other requirements set out by the DIFC WPR Practice Direction. Attend the complete series and earn up to 8 Accredited CLPD points

Will Drafting (4 Accredited CLPD points)

  • Describe the structure and explain the formalities of a Will as prescribed by the DIFC Wills and Probate Registry rules
  • Manage a formal client interview and assess a client’s estate devolution requirements
  • Take comprehensive instructions from your client for the preparation of a Will
  • Draft a Will in accordance with your clients’ specific instructions and circumstances
  • Learn to identify and mitigate professional conduct challenges and concerns commonly associated with the preparation of Wills
  • Satisfy the requirements of DIFC Wills and Probate Registry Practice Direction No.1 of 2016 to be authorized to draft Wills for registration in the Register of Will Draftsmen

WPR Rules (4 Accredited CLPD points)

  • Explain the structure and main tenants of the WPR Rules: roles of registry, application of the rules to a DIFC will, probate process and claims, administration of estates
  • Perform the entire process of will registration, estate planning and probate work within the framework given by the WPR Registry and DIFC Courts
  • Explain the general mandate and powers of the WPR Registry and the DIFC Courts
  • Describe the overall structure of the WPR Rules and explain how they integrate into the wider UAE laws
  • Describe Part 55 of RDCs and explain how it works in conjunction with the DIFC WPR Rules
  • Implement the WPR Rules in advising clients on their Dubai estate planning in relation to DIFC wills and the subsequent probate process
