As the UAE celebrates its Golden Jubilee in 2021, the DIFC Academy in collaboration with Alyiant Consultancy Limited proudly presents a webinar session that discusses developments in the UAE on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations and integration into financing and investment decision-making processes and business practices. The progressive initiatives of the UAE, including the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE’s commitment to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement, is leading to a fast developing eco-system in the UAE for ESG matters connected to sustainable finance, investment and business practices. The discussion will cover the importance and advantages of ESG integration; developments in the UAE towards ESG disclosures and reporting; and international reporting and sector-specific standards relating to ESG matters.

Aly is a lawyer with over 25 years’ experience, covering multiple jurisdictions and advising a broad range of businesses in areas of work encompassing Financial and Non-Financial Services; Joint Ventures; Mergers and Acquisitions; Regulatory Compliance; Risk Management; Corporate Governance; ESG Integration; Structuring and Strategic Advice; and Corporate Entity Formation. He has also worked on a number of International Arbitrations. Based in the UAE since 2008, Aly established Alyiant Consultancy Limited in the DIFC which specialises in Compliance and Risk Management and Company Service Provider services. Aly has authored and co-authored articles and publications covering: Sustainable Finance and ESG Integration; Family Businesses and Succession Planning; Banking Regulations; Joint Ventures; Restructuring; Insolvency; and Anti-Corruption Regulations. Aly is a Barrister (Lincoln’s Inn) and holds LLB (Hons.) and LLM (International and Commercial Law) degrees from the UK.
