The Academy partners with BARBRI to deliver preparatory training for Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS). A flexible QLTS prep course designed to meet needs of international lawyers

DIFC Academy of Law (the Academy) and leading international legal education provider BARBRI have agreed to deliver preparatory training jointly for the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS), paving the way for attorneys in the GCC and Jordan to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales.

The QLTS is a series of tests recognised by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority of England and Wales, and is designed for foreign licensed lawyers seeking to qualify as a solicitor in the legal jurisdiction of England & Wales.

To prepare qualified attorneys in the Middle East to succeed in the QLTS exams, the Academy and BARBRI have come together to create a unique course that combines advice to candidates with access to a wide-range of content.

David Gallo, Director, DIFC Academy of Law, said: “The DIFC Academy of Law is proud to deepen our collaboration with BARBRI to help bridge the gap between international jurisdictions. The introduction of this course is a milestone for the region, and helps to broaden the skills of qualified attorneys in the GCC and Jordan so they can practise law in England and Wales. A key component of the Academy’s work is supporting dual code legal practice. We are delighted to deliver another custom-made local course for Middle Eastern practitioners with global ambitions.”

The DIFC Academy of Law first partnered with BARBRI in February this year to offer new fast-track courses for GCC law graduates and lawyers to become qualified New York and California attorneys. This latest agreement reinforces the Academy’s commitment to coordinate with outstanding international institutions to create a global centre of legal excellence and promote training in dual legal jurisdictions.

Sarah Hutchinson, Managing Director, BARBRI International, said: “QLTS Prep by BARBRI uses quality provision driven by innovative education technology to achieve high pass rates for those studying with us. We are delighted to partner with the DIFC Academy of Law in delivering an excellent and supportive learning experience to our international lawyers seeking requalification in England and Wales.”

The new course will launch in December 2017 in preparation for the July 2018 QLTS MCT exam.
